Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications & Outreach Manager supports the conservation mission of Congaree Land Trust through the execution of the organization’s marketing, communications and outreach strategy. The Manager will lead all internal and external communications, ensuring consistency, effectiveness and enhancing the Land Trust’s reputation among stakeholders and community. Additional responsibilities include assisting with CLT events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a comprehensive communications strategy to build CLT's brand, engage supporters and stakeholders, and share our conservation work with landowners and the general public.
- Manage CLT's digital media outreach, including content generation and brand management for emails to supporters, website, and social media accounts.
- Build strong working relationships with members of the press to frame stories and provide quotes from CLT staff and conservation partners regarding land conservation and related topics.
- Manage the design and production of CLT's monthly e-newsletter to donors and supporters.
- Provide marketing and communications support to Development Team for donor-related campaigns.
- Oversee the production and distribution of CLT's annual report
- Draft and distribute press releases on behalf of CLT
- Organize press conferences and other press events
- Oversee outside vendors for marketing, public relations, printing, design, etc.
- Perform analyses on marketing strategy effectiveness for the organization and report same to the Board of Directors.
- Assists with CLT outreach and fundraising events.
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Associate’s degree or higher in marketing, communications, business or related fields.
- 3+ years in similar non-profit work experience.
- Outstanding written communication skills
- Administrator-level experience with Social Media Platforms, graphic design applications, Constant Contact or similar communications application, customer relationship software (CRM) and a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Requires attention to detail, strong organizational and analytical skills, and exceptional customer service.
- Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.
- Comfortable working directly with the public and a diverse group of stakeholders.
